The wife of the Rivers State Governor, Valerie Fubara on Saturday reaffirmed the commitment of the state government to the welfare of citizens, particularly members of the armed forces and their families.
The governor’s wife stated this while hosting the maiden Humanitarian Outreach, Family and Community Day in Rivers State, organised under the Renewed Hope Initiative of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
The event formed part of activities marking the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration in the state.
Mrs. Fubara, who is also the founder of the Valerie Simple Life Initiative, said the outreach is a solemn tribute and compassionate gesture aimed at honouring Nigeria’s shared history, while strengthening the bond between government and military veterans and their families.
She commended the courage, sacrifice and patriotism of members of the armed forces, noting that their dedication has continued to preserve Nigeria’s peace, unity and territorial integrity.
Mrs. Fubara said the state government remains resolute in supporting legionnaires and their families through policies and programmes that promote dignity, well-being and sustainable livelihoods.
