Ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, Rivers Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has lined up activities to open up the state more to enable the people have free movement across the communities.
A statement issued Tuesday December 3 by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Dr Wenike Danagogo said from December 4 to 21 2024, Governor Fubara would embark on marathon commissioning of completed projects and flags off new ones.
Among the projects to be commissioned are, the reconstructed Okehi-Umuola -Ebieri Link Road in Etche Local Government, commissioning of Government Secondary School, Ahoada in Ahoada East Local Government, commissioning of the rehabilitated Okocha Road and spurs at Rumuolumeni, Obio/Akpor Local Government.
Others include commissioning of security surveillance Gun boats at NNS Pathfinder in Obio/Akpor Local Government and flag off of Buguma-Abalama-Tema-Degema-Abonema Road reconstruction at Akuku Toru Local Government, among many others.
Meanwhile Governor Fubara will on Wednesday December 4, 2024 formally bring to a close, the 43rd edition of the Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA) hosted by the state.

The closing ceremony is scheduled for 9am on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at the Sharks Stadium, Port Harcourt and will have in attendance, federal and state government officials, athletes, technical officials and members of the public.
In the last one week, Rivers State has played host to over 8,000 athletes from 80 Ministries/Departments/Agencies of the federal government, in addition to Team Rivers.
A statement issued by the chairman of the media sub committee for the games and State Commissioner for Information, Warisenibo Joseph Johnson said the games have been held in an atmosphere of intense competition by all the athletes, with new champions emerging in some of the events.
He said It was the 2nd time the state would be hosting the annual event that brings together federal civil servants to compete for honours, whilst also using the opportunity to keep fit and network.
“The closing ceremony will witness the presentation of trophies and medals to winners in various sporting events”, the statement added.
