A joint terror attack by Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists resulted in the deaths of 27 victims, including the village chief of Shuwari and a cousin of Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, in the Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State on the night of February 24, 2026.
Local officials and residents have confirmed the casualties as security personnel continue to evaluate the extent of the destruction caused by the attack.
The attackers targeted the Shuwari/Sholi region in Madagali, indiscriminately firing at villagers congregated near the market and setting buildings ablaze.
Eyewitnesses recounted a scene of chaos as residents fled into nearby bushes seeking safety.

Among the deceased was Ignatius Bademi, the village chief and the relative of Gov. Fintiri, raising local concerns about the ongoing threat of insurgent violence in the area.
Gov. Fintiri denounced the attacks as “cowardly acts of terrorism” and pledged to enhance security measures to safeguard vulnerable communities, while residents continue to grieve and evacuate from the affected areas.
