Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening security in Adamawa State, assuring the newly deployed Commissioner of Police, Kabir Umar, of full government support.
The assurance was given during a courtesy visit by the police chief at the Government House in Yola on Wednesday, where the governor described Umar as an experienced and capable officer well-suited to sustain peace and security across the state.
Gov. Fintiri emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration between the state government and security agencies, noting that such synergy has already led to noticeable improvements in the security landscape.
While acknowledging past challenges, the governor said Adamawa State has made significant progress in tackling crime through coordinated efforts, adding that his administration remains committed to consolidating these gains.

He pledged continued support in critical areas, including logistics, intelligence sharing, and personnel welfare, to enhance the operational efficiency of the police and other security outfits.
The governor also charged the new commissioner to maintain professionalism and resist any form of political interference, stressing that neutrality, fairness, and strict adherence to the rule of law are essential to effective policing.
In his remarks, Umar expressed appreciation for the governor’s confidence and warm reception, pledging to deploy his experience toward ensuring peace and stability in the state.
He commended the administration’s strides in infrastructure and governance, describing them as impactful, and assured that proactive measures would be taken to address emerging security threats.
Umar further called on residents to support law enforcement efforts by providing timely and credible information, reaffirming the command’s commitment to community policing and the protection of lives and property.
