Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has promised to ensure justice for the slain Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart, Thomas Godwin and the victims of insurgent attacks in Damna and Banga communities of Hong Local Government Area of the state.
Gov. Fintiri, who was on a walking visit to his hometown of Gulak in Madagali Local Government Area, took time to extend his condolences personally first to Tøl Huba, Alheri Nyako, and later to the bereaved family of the late Godwin, popularly known as Zafara.
During his visit to the palace of the traditional ruler in Hong, the governor decried the murder of Godwin, describing it as a heinous act that must not go unpunished.
“I assure you that as the chief security officer of the state, I must make sure I unravel all that is involved in the killing of this young man,” the governor said with resolve.
“We have started the investigation, and we have started seeing the pointers. Very soon, the perpetrators will be brought to book.”
Gov. Fintiri emphasised that violence has no place in the state’s drive towards peace and stability.
He urged the grieving family and community to remain strong and take solace in divine justice.
But the governor’s message of solidarity didn’t end there. He also extended sympathies to the communities of Damna and Banga, which have recently suffered insurgent attacks.

These coordinated strikes have once again highlighted the vulnerability of rural settlements in the state’s security architecture.
The governor disclosed that his administration is collaborating with the office of the national security adviser to strengthen the state’s security framework, particularly in vulnerable communities like those within Huba chiefdom.
“We are ready to reinforce our partnership with Huba chiefdom to guarantee prosperity and safety,” he said. “Our government will not rest until the lives and properties of our people, especially in rural areas, are fully secured.”
The Tøl Huba, Alheri Nyako, lauded the governor’s leadership and concern for the people.
“Your visit has brought comfort to us,” he said. “What you did by granting us the Huba chiefdom status will remain evergreen in our hearts. We cannot repay you, but we will be loyal.”
The royal father joined the chorus for justice, praying that those behind the murder of Godwin are swiftly brought to justice.
Gov. Fintiri’s final stop was the family compound of the late Godwin, where he met with the grief-stricken parents and siblings of the 49-year-old PDP stalwart.
