Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has praised the army for its contributions to improving security and fostering unity among security agencies in the state.
The commendation came during the 2024 West African Social Activities (WASA) event, held at the weekend, at the 232 Battalion Parade Ground, Gibson Jalo Cantonment, Jimeta-Yola.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, Gov. Fintiri acknowledged the courage and dedication of the army in addressing the state’s security challenges.
“The 23 Brigade has demonstrated exceptional commitment to ensuring peace and stability in Adamawa State. Your efforts in combating crime and maintaining security are highly commendable,” he said.
The governor also applauded the leadership of the brigade commander for fostering collaboration among security agencies and reaffirmed the state government’s continued support for the brigade’s operations and initiatives.

“We remain committed to our constitutional duties of ensuring peace and stability through professionalism and dedication,” he said.
Brig. Gen. Zawaya expressed gratitude to Maj. Gen. A. E. Abubakar, the General Officer Commanding, 3 Division, and commander ‘Operation SAFE HAVEN’, for his support and to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. O. O. Oluyede, for his sterling leadership qualities.
He also appreciated Gov. Fintiri for his partnership and contributions to the successes recorded by the brigade.
The WASA event, showcased Nigeria’s diverse cultural heritage through cultural dances, comedy acts, tug-of-war contests, and a bonfire ceremony.
