Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, of Adamawa State, has directed that no government official, regardless of rank, should cover their vehicle license plates while driving on state roads.
The governor, who announced his readiness to sign an executive order enforcing the directive, emphasized his commitment to transparency and security.
The announcement was made during a ceremony where the governor received an award of excellence as a gender-friendly governor from women leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
Gov. Fintiri explained that some individuals with malicious intentions have been disguising as government officials to engage in illegal activities, such as drug trafficking, which harm the youth and undermine societal well-being.

He stressed that his administration will not tolerate such practices, warning drivers indulging in such acts, to as a matter of urgency, desist.
Underscoring the pivotal role of women in societal development, from managing homes to nurturing future generations, he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting women and youth through inclusive policies and opportunities for leadership.
The governor, who expressed gratitude for the recognition from Adamawa women, described the award as a source of inspiration for his administration.
The state PDP Women Leader, Dr. Susan Zirra, commended the governor’s achievements, noting his commitment to equity and gender sensitivity through the appointment of women to key positions.
