The Akwa Ibom State Government has announced plans to launch the much-anticipated Arise Youth Employment Portal. This initiative, which aligns with Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda, will provide a digital platform for youths in the state to access job opportunities, training, and empowerment programs.
The virtual launch is set to take place on Monday, October 21, 2024, at the State Executive Council Chambers, with top government officials and select stakeholders in attendance. Citizens across the state will be able to witness the event live through online streaming, according to the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor, Mr. Ekerete Udoh.
Speaking at a press briefing in Uyo, Udoh emphasized that despite the state being in mourning following the passing of the Governor’s wife, Pastor Patience Eno, government functions continue seamlessly. He was joined by Hon. Aniekan Umanah, Honorary Special Adviser on Media, and Dr. Essien Ndueso, Senior Special Assistant on Research and Documentation.
Dr. Frank Ekpenyong, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on ICT, explained that the Arise Youth Employment Portal will be the official platform for unemployed and underemployed youths in Akwa Ibom State to register for job openings and training opportunities offered by both the government and the private sector.
The portal, which will be accessible via www.employment.akwaibomstate.gov.ng will allow youths to create personal accounts, providing details such as their name, photograph, contact information, National Identification Number (NIN), Voter Identification Number (VIN), and educational qualifications. Employers will be able to access this data to verify applicants’ eligibility for various roles.

“The portal will serve as a vital resource for both the public and private sectors to identify skilled youths for employment in civil service and private companies,” said Ekpenyong. He added that it will also support the recruitment of 5,000 youths for the N50,000 monthly empowerment program, the Dakkada Skill Acquisition Training, and Ibom Community Watch (ICW) initiatives.
Governor Umo Eno initially promised to launch this employment portal during the September Youth Rally, where he highlighted his commitment to creating job opportunities for Akwa Ibom youths with marketable skills. The platform will also serve as a gateway for various empowerment schemes aimed at fostering economic growth and youth engagement.
