Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for recognizing the progress recorded by his government in the last two years, saying the gesture will motivate him to do more for the state.
Gov. Eno was recently honoured with the Distinguished Award for Excellence in Sustainable Development and Community Empowerment at the Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service.
The award was presented to him in Abuja by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. George Akume.
Speaking with journalists on arrival at the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, the governor dedicated the honour to the people of Akwa Ibom, describing it as a product of collective effort.
“For me, the award is both an inspiration and a reminder that the world is watching us. I am thankful to God,” he said.

He emphasized that the progress made by his administration was the result of broad support from citizens, noting that a vision may begin with one person but requires the contributions of many to succeed.
“It’s not about me; it’s about everyone who has helped us realize our vision. This is a collective award, an award for Akwa Ibom people. I pray that God will help us to accomplish even more for our state,” he added.
Gov. Eno also used the occasion to celebrate Senate President Godswill Akpabio, on his birthday, wishing him long life, good health, and continued wisdom as he leads the 10th Senate.
He assured Akpabio of the support of the Akwa Ibom people, expressing confidence in his continued service and his re-election prospects in 2027.
