The Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Bago has freed 11 inmates from death row.

This decision was announced by the state Commissioner of Justice, Mr. Nasiru Mu’azu, during a news conference in Minna on Tuesday.

The individuals who were pardoned were involved in a violent conflict between two communities, Gaba and Anfani, in the Lavun Local Government Area of the state.

This clash resulted in the loss of lives and damage to property.

The commissioner explained that the governor used his legal authority to grant the pardon after reviewing a formal request from the inmates.

According to him, the action is part of a broader effort to promote peace and reconciliation between the two communities.
