Governor Ademola Adeleke has unveiled the Imole Agropreneur Project, an initiative designed to empower 50,000 young people through modern farming practices.
The program, which marks a significant step towards agricultural revolution in Osun, involves the allocation of 1,000 hectares of farmland in each of the state’s 30 local government areas and area offices. A total of 50,000 hectares will be cleared and cultivated using state-of-the-art farming technologies, ensuring food security and modernizing the agriculture value chain.
Governor Adeleke expressed his administration’s commitment to the initiative, stating, “Our administration has developed and implemented these transformative policies and programs to boost agricultural productivity across the state.”
As part of the project, the state will distribute 60,000 packs of vegetable seedlings, 8,000 liters of herbicide, 8,000 cassava cuttings, 80,000 cashew seedlings, and essential fertilizers to farmers. Additionally, 500,000 cocoa seedlings and 300,000 palm seedlings will be raised and distributed to dedicated farmers during the 2025 rainy season, further bolstering Osun’s agricultural output.

Poultry farmers will also benefit under the Osun Broilers Production Scheme (OBOPS), with each farmer receiving an allocation of ₦8.6 million to scale their operations. The state has commenced constructing central abattoirs in Iwo and Irepodun local government areas, ensuring improved processing standards for livestock products.
Through the Osun Cares Program, the government has already provided agricultural inputs and services to 18,100 farmers. To enhance access to farmlands and minimize post-harvest losses, 90.8 kilometers of rural roads within farm settlements have been rehabilitated across the state.
This initiative is expected to not only empower the youth but also position Osun as a leader in modernized agriculture in Nigeria. By focusing on mechanized farming and sustainable agricultural practices, Governor Adeleke is paving the way for a prosperous future for farmers and ensuring food security for the state’s residents.
