The Gongola Peoples Forum (GPF) has denied endorsing any political party ahead of the 2027 general polls.
GPF Public Relations Officer, Elder Patrick Anyom, in a statement on Tuesday, dismissed the claim by one Mohammad Hamza, who, in a Facebook post, said that anyone who becomes a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is automatically a member of the Gongola Peoples Forum (GPF).
The forum said that while it does not know the motivation for Hamza’s statement, it descri
ed the statement as not only false, but equally mischievous, misleading, and a gross misrepresentation of the organization.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the GPF is a socio-cultural organization that is non-political and non-partisan and therefore, not synonymous with any political party, whether now or in the future.

“As a socio-cultural organization, our primary goal is to unite the over 83 indigenous ethnic nationalities of the Gongola valley domiciled in Adamawa State, for the singular purpose of asserting their rights to self-determination economically, politically, and culturally.
“GPF has therefore come to represent the collective consciousness of these ethnic nationalities, which are the majority in terms of numerical strength and population in Adamawa State.
“Anything short of this objective does not represent the position of GPF in any way,” the forum said.
