Gombe State University has announced plans to establish a faculty of agricultural sciences, marking a major step toward advancing agricultural education in the state.
The initiative, stems from a partnership spearheaded by Governor Muhammadu Yahaya during his visit to Michigan State University, USA, aimed at fostering innovation and research in agriculture.
It would be recalled that a delegation from Michigan State University, led by Prof. Daniel Uyeh, visited Gombe State last year to assess the proposed site at Malam Sidi and the Industrial Park at Dadin Kowa, earmarked for an agricultural Innovation hub.
Prof. Uyeh commended the infrastructure being provided by the university and expressed confidence in the project’s success.

Notable officials involved in the site assessment, include Prof. Mu’azu Shehu, Principal Private Secretary; Abubakar Maigari, Deputy Director of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council; and Ahmed Musa Hussaini, Director General of Research and Documentation.
Speaking, the acting Vice-Chancellor of Gombe State University, Prof. Sani Yauta, applauded the state governor’s visionary leadership, highlighting the transformative potential of the collaboration with MSU.
According to Yauta, this initiative positions the state university as a leader in agricultural education and innovation in Northern Nigeria.
The partnership with MSU is expected to establish the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at GSU, develop an agricultural innovation hub at the Dadin Kowa Industrial Park, and collaborate on joint research and grant-writing projects.
