In a resounding declaration during the commencement of the 27th State Qur’an Recitation Competition in Kumo, Akko Local Government Area, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya assured the public of the state’s unwavering commitment to the education sector.
Emphasizing the sector’s pivotal role in citizens’ lives, Governor Inuwa Yahaya highlighted the strides made since the inception of his administration in 2019, with a continued focus on educational advancements in the upcoming 2024 fiscal year as outlined in the proposed budget.
Represented by the Commissioner of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Dr. Abdullahi Bappa Ahmed, the Governor urged participants to demonstrate maturity and discipline throughout both the State and National Competitions.
The Commissioner of Education, Professor Aishatu Umar Maigari, echoed the significance of the annual event in uncovering talents in Qur’an memorization, describing the Qur’an as a comprehensive guide for human existence and urging participants to not only memorize but also implement its teachings.

Commending the reconstituted State committee for their efforts, the Commissioner called for a seamless competition, emphasizing the practical application of Qur’anic lessons in daily life.
The Emir of Akko, Alhaji Umar Muhammad Atiku, and the host caretaker chairman of Akko Local Government, Alhaji Abubakar Usman Barambu, expressed gratitude for selecting Akko as the venue and pledged to ensure the success of the competition.
The week-long event is anticipated to yield winners who will represent Gombe State in the forthcoming National Competition scheduled to take place in Yobe State.
