As Gombe State celebrates its 29th anniversary alongside Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day, Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, has lauded the state’s developmental strides and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming Gombe into a hub of investment, opportunity, and inclusive growth.
In a goodwill message marking the twin anniversaries, Gov. Yahaya urged citizens to uphold the peace, unity, and coexistence, describing them as the foundation for sustainable development and national prosperity.
Reflecting on Gombe’s journey since its creation in 1996, the governor paid tribute to past leaders for their contributions to the state’s growth and emphasized that, despite existing challenges, the state has recorded significant achievements under his leadership guided by the 10-year development olan
“Today, Gombe stands as a beacon of progress in the North-East. In less than three decades of existence, we have ushered in a new dawn defined by vision, discipline, and results,” he said.
Gov. Yahaya highlighted key milestones in education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, industrialization, environmental sustainability, public service reforms, ease of doing business, and empowerment initiatives.

He credited DEVAGOM as the roadmap that continues to steer Gombe’s development across all sectors.
Looking to the future, Gov. Yahaya pledged greater investment in youth empowerment, farmer support, and improving quality of life for families across the state.
He also acknowledged the current economic challenges facing the country but called for patience and perseverance, assuring citizens that the reforms being implemented will ultimately lead to a stronger and more resilient economy.
As chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, Gov. Yahaya extended his goodwill to Nigerians across the country, encouraging them to celebrate with gratitude and a renewed commitment to unity and nation-building.
