Maj.-Gen. Folusho Oyinlola, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, based in Rukuba, Jos, proudly decorated seven newly promoted officers with their new ranks in a formal ceremony held on Friday night at the division’s Cantonment.
The officers, who were recently advanced from the rank of Second Lieutenant to Captain, represented a new chapter in their military careers, reflecting their dedication and hard work in service to their country.
While addressing the gathering, GOC Oyinlola emphasized the importance of dedication and a strong commitment to their military duties. He reminded the officers that their new ranks come with increased responsibilities and expectations, highlighting the critical nature of professionalism in their roles.

“You must remain dedicated to your duties,” Oyinlola stated firmly. “The military pays close attention to career advancement and professional growth. It’s essential that you uphold a high standard of regimentation and discipline—these are fundamental to our mission and integrity as a military organization.”
Oyinlola further urged the officers to engage in self-development initiatives and to practice prudent financial management, acknowledging that both aspects play a significant role in their overall effectiveness as leaders within the Army.
In his remarks, Oyinlola also called upon the Nigerian populace to extend their support to the military as they continue to work tirelessly in safeguarding the nation’s security. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the families of the officers and soldiers, recognizing their sacrifices and unwavering support while their loved ones serve the nation.
Speaking on behalf of his fellow promoted officers, Capt. Umar Isah voiced their collective appreciation to Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), for recognizing their potential and deeming them worthy of promotion. He pledged their steadfast commitment to their roles and vowed to honor the trust placed in them by the Nigerian Army, assuring that they would strive to excel in their new responsibilities as they continue to serve with honor and integrity.
