The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 3 Division and Commander of Operation Safe Haven, Maj. Gen. Eyitayo Oyinlola, has urged troops to uphold discipline, resilience, and sportsmanship as the 2025 edition of the 3 Division Inter-Brigade Corporal and Below Competition commences in Taraba State.
Speaking through the Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brig. Gen. Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Maj. Gen. Oyinlola gave the charge while declaring the event open at the 20 Model Battalion Parade Ground in Serti Baruwa, Gashaka Local Government Area.
Emphasising the broader objectives of the competition, Maj. Gen. Oyinlola said the event goes beyond winning, but serves as a platform for learning, bonding, and reinforcing the unity that defines the army.
While encouraging the participants to embrace healthy rivalry and mutual respect, the general officer commanding described the annual competition as a key component of the army’s training programme at enhancing combat proficiency, leadership development, endurance, teamwork, and overall organisational capacity among junior soldiers.
These attributes, he said, are vital for addressing Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
