The East African gospel community is mourning the sudden death of Gloriose Musabyimana, the beloved Rwandan singer and TikTok sensation popularly known as Gogo Gloriose, who passed away in Kampala, Uganda, at the age of 36.

The gifted gospel artist, celebrated for her humor and uplifting spirit, reportedly died on the night of September 3 while receiving treatment at a Kampala hospital. Although the exact cause of her death has not been made public, Gloriose had openly spoken in past interviews about battling heart-related health complications.

Her death has sent shockwaves across Rwanda and Uganda, where she had built a loyal fan base through her concerts, church performances, and viral social media clips. She first discovered her gift in the choir of an Anglican church in Rwamagana District, writing three songs for the choir Umucyo before striking out on a solo career.

In recent years, Gogo Gloriose reinvented herself as a digital star. Her TikTok skits and YouTube videos, mixing gospel music with humor, earned her a reputation as a creative force. Her viral hit “Everyday, I Need Blood of Jesus” became a cultural phenomenon, inspiring memes and parody videos across East Africa. Her popularity skyrocketed further when South African musician and YouTuber David Scott, known as The Kiffness, remixed the song, drawing international attention to her work.

Other songs such as “Uwo Mwana” also enjoyed wide acclaim, especially during festive seasons. Fans admired her ability to blend worship with relatable, everyday storytelling.

Before her rise to fame, Gloriose lived a modest life, working as a street vendor selling fruits while completing her secondary education. Her journey from humble beginnings to becoming one of Rwanda’s most talked-about gospel voices has inspired many young musicians.

Tributes are already pouring in across social media, with fans describing her as a “true vessel of joy and faith” who used her platform to spread both laughter and the gospel.

Gogo Gloriose leaves behind a legacy that transcends music, reminding her followers that faith, talent, and determination can lift anyone beyond humble beginnings into the spotlight.
