A devastating explosion in Lagos, along the Lekki-Epe Expressway in the Sangotedo area on Saturday morning, after a gas-laden truck exploded following a collision.
The incident happened around 2:00 a.m. Two men, believed to be the truck driver and his assistant, were killed instantly, their bodies burnt beyond recognition.
The resulting inferno spread rapidly, destroying at least three warehouses and about 10 nearby shops.
Several vehicles, including commercial buses and a private car, were also completely razed.
Officials from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading further.

However, the driver of the gas truck reportedly escaped unhurt.
The explosion has reignited concerns over the safety of transporting and handling petroleum products across Nigeria, as well as the efficiency and response time of emergency services.
Many residents are now calling for stricter regulations and improved safety measures to prevent future tragedies.
