Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Governor of Kano State has firmly denied the viral social media posts suggesting his intention to run for president in the 2027 elections.
The post, which has been circulating widely, features Ganduje alongside Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, as candidates for the APC’s 2027 presidential and vice-presidential tickets. However, Ganduje’s Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, dismissed these claims in a statement released on Sunday, August 18th, calling the rumours baseless and malicious.
“This is to inform the general public that the poster currently circulating on social media, claiming that the APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, is contesting for the presidency in 2027 with Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as his running mate, is entirely false and a malicious piece,” Olofu stated. He further accused political adversaries, likely aligned with the Kwankwassiyya movement, of attempting to sow discord between Ganduje and President Bola Tinubu.

Olofu said that Ganduje remains fully committed to supporting President Tinubu’s leadership and vision for Nigeria, urging the public and party members to disregard the fake news.
Similarly, the Imo State Government has also refuted the claims about Governor Hope Uzodimma’s involvement in the alleged 2027 presidential ticket. Declan Emelumba, the Imo State Commissioner for Information, condemned the viral poster as fraudulent and malicious, noting that Uzodimma remains a strong supporter of President Tinubu.
“It is both ridiculous and absurd. The governor is focused on fulfilling his second term duties and continuing his support for the President, so where is this false information coming from?” Emelumba questioned. He called on those spreading the falsehood to cease their activities, warning that such misinformation could damage the relationship between the federal and state governments.
Both Ganduje and Uzodimma have urged the public to ignore the fake news and avoid sharing unverified information.
