Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed satisfaction with the pace of work on the ongoing 12.2-kilometre Trans-Kalabari Road, describing it as a transformative project that will redefine transportation and economic activities across the Kalabari region once completed.
During an inspection tour of the project on Monday, October 27, 2025, the governor, accompanied by the management team of Lubriks Construction Company, commended the level of commitment and professionalism shown by the contractors. He disclosed that the piling work on Phase One of the project has reached 75 percent completion, marking a significant milestone in the state’s infrastructure drive.
“I personally came here to inspect this project,” Fubara said. “This is the Trans-Kalabari Road we flagged off about a year ago. I’ve been receiving reports from the Ministry of Works, but I felt the need to see the progress myself. The first phase, which will take us to Bakana, includes four river-crossing bridges and nearly five decks on piles. It’s a highly challenging project because of the terrain, but I’m impressed by the progress achieved so far.”

Fubara reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to developmental projects that directly improve the lives of citizens and bring growth to rural and riverine communities. He emphasized that the Trans-Kalabari Road remains a priority because of its potential to open up the Kalabari axis for trade, tourism, and easier access to essential services.
“As you can see, this is a key project that will immediately transform the lives of the Kalabari people once completed,” the governor added. “Our government will continue to focus on projects that bring real development and connect our people for a better future.”
