I-Song 5 Foundation, a non-profit organisation founded by UK-based indigene of Ikot Inyang Village, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Ofonime Inyang, has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting education and literacy in underserved communities.
Guided by its mission to expand access to educational resources and quality health services in rural areas, the foundation visited St. Mary’s Catholic Parish, Ikot Inyang, in honour of the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Innocent Utin, as he marked the second anniversary of his priestly ordination on November 4, 2025.
Over the years, I-Song 5 Foundation has supported pupils and students in public schools through its student support initiative, donating subject textbooks, exercise books, and computer systems to enhance learning.
During the recent visit, the foundation gifted additional books to the parish priest for distribution to schoolchildren across the community.
Speaking during the presentation, the chairman of the board of trustees, Sampson Inyang, expressed joy at the foundation’s gesture.
“We are proud to support our community and honour our priest whose service has brought remarkable growth to the parish,” he said.
He further congratulated Rev. Fr. Utin and thanked the Bishop of Ikot Ekpene Diocese, Most Rev. Camillus Umoh, for appointing him as the pioneer parish priest for the village.
Laity President, Emmanuel Essiet, described the donation as timely and inspired.
“Education and skill acquisition remain vital tools for human development,” he stated.
“Choosing the parish priest to distribute these books was God-led, especially as this gesture fulfils our earlier promise and aligns divinely with his anniversary celebration.”
