The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2023 general elections in Taraba State, Danladi Tijo, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The declaration was made on Tuesday during a meeting with members of his campaign council at his residence in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.

Explaining the reason behind his defection, Baido said his decision was inspired by the remarkable developmental strides recorded by Governor Agbu Kefas in less than two years in office.

He described Gov. Kefas as a visionary and inclusive leader with a transformative agenda that transcends political, religious, and ethnic boundaries.

Baido urged the electorate, youths, and various political groups to rally behind Gov. Kefas’s administration to ensure the sustained delivery of democratic dividends across the state.

In separate remarks, A.A. Liman and Senator Ibrahim Goje commended Baido for what they described as a bold and patriotic move made in the best interest of Taraba State.
Meanwhile, several leaders of Baido’s campaign groups expressed their unwavering loyalty and support as he begins a new political journey in the APC.
