Former presidential spokesperson and political figure, Dr. Doyin Okupe, has passed away at the age of 72.
His death was confirmed on Friday, March 7, 2025, according to reports from his home town.
Okupe, a seasoned politician and media strategist, played a significant role in Nigeria’s political landscape. He served as the Director-General of Peter Obi’s Presidential Campaign in the 2023 elections but stepped down following a conviction for money laundering.
Following the elections, Okupe resigned from the Labour Party and later became a vocal advocate for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, aligning himself with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
