Lobi Stars football club have been dragged before the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) over a breach of contract involving ex-Nigeria international and professional football manager, Eddy Dombraye The Trumpet gathered.
Dombraye through his agent, Alicia Nikolis, forwarded a petition before the highest football governing organ over the inability of the Makurdi-based club to compensate him after being relieved of his job.
The football gaffer’s two years contract signed in September 2021, was terminated by Lobi Stars in March 2022 after a poor run of results that saw the Ortom Boys struggling to beat the drop zone of the Nigeria Professionals Football League (NPFL) table to evade relegation.
FIFA, which oversees and upholds the dignity of football globally while it disciplines anybody/institution whose actions and inactions are meant to bring the game to disrepute, is presently reviewing the petition brought before it by Dombraye’s agent, according to Mmenyeneabasi Akpan’s report.

However, this is not the first petition that has been lodged before the FIFA Disciplinary and Ethics Committee against an NPFL club as Heartland of Owerri have tasted from the vine of FIFA’s unbiased sanctions as well.
Heartland of Owerri were petitioned to FIFA in May 2020 after they unlawfully terminated the contract of Brazilian Santos Da Costa Ivo Jorge.
Though the Samba boy was not the only player to have been dropped by the Owerri-based club, he sought to exploit the option of letting the world football governing body decide his fate despite having a year left to run in his 2 years contract.
