A significant boost to the medal haul came from the karate events, where a total of 64 medals were decided. Zone 5 dominated the discipline, clinching seven gold, three silver and two bronze medals — one of the strongest single-event performances recorded at this year’s games.
Force Headquarters also bolstered their overall tally with notable podium finishes in both male and female individual kata events, contributing to their lead on the table.
In team kata categories, Zones 5 and 6 delivered gold medal performances in the female and male events respectively, while several other zones added silver and bronze medals to strengthen their positions on the standings.
While the medal table battle has largely been shaped by indoor and combat sports, attention now shifts to the football final, which could still influence final rankings in terms of overall medal count.
Zone 10, Sokoto, will face Zone 4, Makurdi, in the gold medal match at the Stephen Keshi International Stadium as part of the closing ceremony activities.
The ceremony is expected to be attended by President Bola Tinubu; Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori; and the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, alongside top police officers and contingents from the 17 police zones and Force Headquarters.
As the curtain falls on BIPOGA 2026, the medal table reflects not just sporting excellence, but the competitive spirit and unity among officers of the Nigeria Police Force across the federation.
