The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jalingo, Dr. Aisha Shehu Adamu, has highlighted teamwork and strategic partnerships as the driving forces behind the hospital’s remarkable achievements. Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Taraba State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in Jalingo, Dr. Adamu underscored the importance of collaboration in transforming the institution into a beacon of excellence.
Dr. Adamu, whose appointment was recently renewed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, attributed this recognition to the achievements of her first tenure. She noted that her administration’s focus on innovation and community-oriented initiatives has significantly elevated the hospital’s reputation.
One of the standout initiatives under her leadership is the establishment of the FMC Jalingo Football Club, a move she described as a symbol of the hospital’s commitment to fostering community engagement and youth empowerment.
“This football club is not just about sports; it’s about community development and offering opportunities for talented youths in Taraba State,” Dr. Adamu stated.
She expressed her desire to partner with SWAN to promote the football club and leverage positive media coverage to further enhance the hospital’s image.
Sani Sulaiman, Chairman of the Taraba SWAN chapter, praised Dr. Adamu for her visionary leadership and her focus on impactful projects like the football club. He described the initiative as a unique approach to community empowerment and pledged SWAN’s support in advancing the hospital’s objectives.
“We are committed to collaborating with FMC Jalingo to amplify its success stories and promote this innovative football club. This is a step in the right direction for youth development,” Sulaiman remarked.
Veteran sports journalists, including Abubakar Sadiq Moyoyo and Ben Adaji, commended Dr. Adamu’s efforts in improving staff welfare, upgrading hospital facilities, and driving community-oriented programs. They urged her to sustain the momentum and continue making FMC Jalingo a model for healthcare excellence nationwide.
The SWAN leadership further encouraged Dr. Adamu to strengthen partnerships with public and private healthcare institutions to broaden the hospital’s impact.
With her commitment to innovation and community engagement, Dr. Adamu’s second tenure is poised to solidify FMC Jalingo’s status as a trailblazer in healthcare and community development, making it a benchmark for other medical centers across Nigeria.
