The First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians to celebrate their cultural diversity and work towards unity and mutual respect.
She made this appeal in her message on Wednesday, marking the 2025 World Day for cultural diversity for dialogue and development.
“The World Day for Cultural Diversity reminds us of the strength we gain from our differences and the shared humanity that brings us together,” she said.
“There is real power and togetherness in our diversity.”
Sen. Tinubu highlighted that Nigeria is home to over 250 ethnic groups, each with its own language.

“It is through conversations, interactions, and mutual respect that we can truly find our identity and come together as one,” she added.
On this special day, she encouraged all Nigerians to appreciate our rich cultural heritage, to listen to one another with compassion, and to lead with understanding.
“Let’s walk this path together and create a brighter future for Nigeria and the world,” she concluded.
The World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development is celebrated every year on May 21.
Its purpose is to remind the world of the importance of culture in fostering sustainable growth and development in our communities.
