An energy servicing company, Bunorr Integrated Energy Limited has called for a legislation to compel the recycling of oil wastes (condemn oil) by individuals and organizations to guarantee availability of raw materials for the company’s operations and allied services
The firm deals on recycling of condemned oil from vehicles and other movable and non movable engines to produce base oil which can be used as lubricants for industrial and domestic use, etc.
Managing Director of the firm Modestus Okeke made the call on Tuesday while conducting the media on a tour of the company’s facilities at the factory located at Omagwa in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The tour was facilitated by the Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board, (NCDMB) which holds an equity share of 3.5 million dollars in the firm’s operations.
The Managing Director stated that the firm ‘s operations directly supports Nigeria’s commitment to energy circularity, environmental sustainability, local content development and import substitution.

He, however regretted that non availability of raw materials greatly hampers the operations of the firm, a situation he said accounts for periodic shut down of operations due to lack of used engine oil (UEO) the major raw material for their operations.
He explained that it was for this reason that the firm is calling for a legislation that will guarantee steady availability of the used engine oil.
The MD also lamented the heavy cost being incurred in powering their operations with diesel following the lack of public power supply at Omagwa where the factory is located.
He called on the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company and other relevant government agencies to rise to the occasion and connect the area to the national grid.
The MD used the occasion to commend the NCDMB for its financial and technically support to the firm which according to him has enabled it to steady its operations with a capacity to venture into other areas of need.
