A fire incident has destroyed several shops and goods in Ikom Market, Mile 2, opposite Ucherori Street in Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River State.
The fire incident is coming exactly four days after a similar incident occurred at a high court in Ogoja Local Government Area of the state.
Eyewitnesses said that the fire started at around 2:45 pm on Sunday and quickly spread through the market, engulfing several shops and stalls.
The exact cause of the fire is still unknown as the time of filing this report. But sources suggest that it may have been sparked by a burning object in a nearby drainage, which quickly spread into the nearby market.

In spite of efforts by traders and sympathisers around to contain the blaze, the fire raged on for hours, destroying goods and properties worth millions of naira.
No casualty was recorded, an eyewitness confirmed.
It was gathered that the Cross River State Fire Service was reportedly contacted, but unfortunately, their response was delayed, allowing the fire to spread further.
Efforts to reach the Cross River State Fire service proved abortive.
The Ikom Main Market located in the central senatorial district of Cross River State, is one of the busiest markets in state, attracting traders and customers from all over the state and beyond.
