Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has flagged off the construction of a state-of-the-art International Conference and Events Centre in Yola.

The groundbreaking ceremony, as observed by The Trumpet, marks the latest addition to the Fintiri administration’s ambitious development agenda aimed at positioning Adamawa as a hub for investment, tourism, and global engagement.

Speaking, Governor Fintiri described the project as a “strategic investment in the future of Adamawa,” pledging that the facility would not only enhance the state’s hospitality and tourism sectors but also create jobs, attract local and international events, and boost internally generated revenue.

“This project is more than bricks and mortar. It is about laying the foundation for a prosperous Adamawa. The Centre will be equipped with cutting-edge conference facilities, galleries, event halls, administrative offices, restaurants, and more all powered by uninterrupted electricity,” the Governor said.

The new Centre is strategically designed to leverage the accessibility provided by Yola International Airport, with the aim of attracting international and national conferences, exhibitions, and business events under the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry.

Fintiri emphasized that the project would trigger a ripple effect on the state’s economy, stimulating investments, increasing tourism traffic, and accelerating development in surrounding areas through improved infrastructure and commercial activity.

“We envision Yola becoming the go-to destination for events like NBA, ICAN, and CIBN conferences. We are calling on global event planners — in 12 months, Yola will be ready,” he added.

Governor Fintiri, also highlighted his administration’s broader development record, which he described as unmatched in the state.
