The Finnish Immigration Service has officially opened applications for the 2025 Finland Seasonal Work Permit, offering foreign nationals the opportunity to take up temporary jobs in the country’s agriculture, forestry, and tourism industries. This permit provides a pathway for migrant workers to gain valuable international work experience while helping Finland meet its labor demands.
The seasonal work permit allows foreign workers to stay in Finland for up to nine months within a 12-month period, depending on the type of permit issued. According to TravelBiz, the program is specifically designed to regulate foreign employment in Finland, ensuring that all workers adhere to labor laws and employment standards. However, securing the appropriate permit before traveling is mandatory for all applicants.
There are two categories of seasonal work permits based on the length of employment. The Seasonal Work Visa, which applies to jobs lasting up to three months, must be obtained before travel. Applicants from visa-required countries must apply through a Finnish embassy, while those from visa-exempt nations can apply directly for a certificate for seasonal work from the Finnish Immigration Service.
The Residence Permit for Seasonal Work is required for employment periods ranging from three to nine months and must be obtained before arriving in Finland. Since processing times can take up to 90 days, early application is highly recommended.

To qualify for the Finland Seasonal Work Permit, applicants must meet key requirements. A signed employment contract from a Finnish employer is mandatory, ensuring that workers have legal employment before entry. Additionally, all seasonal workers must earn a minimum wage of €1,430 (N2.2 million) per month, unless a collective agreement states otherwise. Suitable accommodation that meets Finland’s health and safety regulations must also be arranged before arrival.
The application process involves several crucial steps. Prospective applicants must secure a job offer from a Finnish employer in the agriculture, forestry, or tourism sector and sign a legally binding employment contract. They must then gather necessary documents, including a valid passport, signed contract, and proof of accommodation, before choosing the appropriate permit type. Applicants will also need to pay the required processing fees and monitor their application status through the Finnish Immigration Service’s official website.
