Nigerian filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has expressed concern over soaring diesel prices, calling it unmanageable for his businesses and daily activities in a video shared online.
He revealed that at his KAP Village venture, he has incurred costs of N11 million on diesel within a span of just 4-5 weeks, even with solar power installed.
“I’ve been feeling down because I can’t handle paying N1,500 per liter for diesel. In one of my businesses, KAP Village, I’ve spent N11 million in just 4-5 weeks on diesel,” he stated.
Afolayan emphasised that despite having solar power, expenses remain high: “We have solar power, but our costs are still high. In Lagos, we still face high expenses even with solar energy.”

He pointed out that the recent increase in fuel prices from N1,000 to over N1,500 per liter has made it increasingly difficult to manage expenses, particularly when diesel is purchased on credit and paid off over time.
“Please, we need loans to upgrade our solar power,” he urged, appealing to financial institutions and government bodies for assistance that would help businesses like his reduce their dependence on costly diesel and ensure sustainable operations.
