Nigeria’s Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has been shortlisted for the 2025 The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper Award, earning global recognition as one of the standout shot-stoppers in world football.
The 23-year-old remains the only Nigerian among this year’s nominees, a list that features elite names such as Ann-Katrin Berger (Germany, Gotham FC), Cata Coll (Spain, Barcelona), Christiane Endler (Chile, Olympique Lyonnais), Hannah Hampton (England, Chelsea), Anna Moorhouse (England, Orlando Pride), and Phallon Tullis-Joyce (USA, Manchester United).
Nnadozie’s nomination follows her outstanding performances with Paris FC, where she led the French side through an impressive UEFA Women’s Champions League campaign before securing a move to Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this season. Her sharp reflexes, penalty-saving heroics, and leadership on the pitch have made her one of Africa’s most admired goalkeepers.

The recognition has fueled excitement among Nigerian fans, particularly after male counterparts Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman were left out of the men’s category. Their exclusion, though surprising to many, underlines the fierce global competition for FIFA’s top honors.
For Nnadozie, this nomination marks another milestone in her soaring career. She gained international acclaim at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, where her performances for Nigeria drew praise from fans and analysts worldwide.
Voting for The Best FIFA Football Awards is now open, with national team captains, coaches, journalists, and fans casting their votes. Should Nnadozie clinch the title, she would make history as the first African goalkeeper ever to win the award a momentous achievement that would further cement her legacy as one of the finest talents in women’s football.
