Global football governing body FIFA has fined the Israel Football Association 150,000 Swiss francs, about £141,700, following an investigation into allegations of racism and discrimination within Israeli football.
The sanction followed a complaint lodged by the Palestine Football Association during the 74th FIFA Congress in 2024, which accused Israeli football authorities of failing to adequately address racist conduct in domestic competitions.
After reviewing the case, FIFA’s disciplinary committee found that the Israel FA breached provisions of its code relating to offensive behaviour, fair play and rules prohibiting discrimination and racist abuse.
Alongside the financial penalty, FIFA issued a formal warning to the association and directed it to implement visible anti-discrimination measures during upcoming matches.
As part of the ruling, the Israel FA must display a stadium banner at its next three home fixtures carrying the message “Football Unites the World No to Discrimination.” The banner is to be presented with the association’s logo, with its design and placement subject to FIFA approval at least 15 days before each match.
FIFA also ordered that one-third of the fine be invested in programmes aimed at combating discrimination and preventing future incidents within the sport.

The Palestine FA had further raised concerns about clubs based in territories claimed by Palestine participating in Israeli leagues. On this issue, FIFA said it would not impose sanctions, noting that the legal status of the West Bank remains unresolved under international law.
The development comes amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, which continue to affect sporting activities. The Palestine FA confirmed that planned friendly matches involving its national team in Morocco against Mauritania and Benin have been cancelled due to the conflict.
FIFA stated that the decision remains subject to appeal by the Israel FA, indicating that the disciplinary process may continue.
