The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has reaffirmed its commitment to providing affordable and sustainable homeownership opportunities for Nigerian civil servants, with strong backing from the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN).
Speaking at the commissioning of the newly completed Federal Housing Authority Complex and the Express View Estate in Lugbe, Abuja, the Managing Director/Chief Executive of FMBN, Shehu Usman Osidi, described the FHA as an “indispensable partner” in the Bank’s mission to make housing accessible to Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.
The ceremony was led by the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Shuaib Mohammed Belgore. The event also drew the presence of the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Housing, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin, alongside key stakeholders in Nigeria’s housing sector.
Osidi praised Minister Dangiwa’s leadership and reforms in the housing sector, noting that his vision has accelerated progress in delivering affordable homes across the country. He emphasized that the collaboration between FMBN and FHA would be central to tackling Nigeria’s housing deficit and aligning with the Federal Government’s renewed hope agenda.

“Together, we can advance the housing delivery vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and contribute meaningfully to the broader agenda of the Federal Government,” Osidi stated, while pledging more access to mortgage finance for Nigerian workers.
Highlighting the achievements of the FHA, its Managing Director/Chief Executive, Hon. Ojo, explained that the first phase of the Express View Estate features 50 units of terraces and flats, with a total of 110 housing units planned. He assured Nigerians that FHA’s mission goes beyond constructing houses, stressing that the authority is committed to building livable, secure, and efficient estates designed for modern living.
With Nigeria facing one of the largest housing deficits in Africa, the renewed partnership between FHA and FMBN is seen as a significant step toward bridging the gap. Stakeholders believe that initiatives like the Lugbe Express View Estate will not only provide affordable shelter but also enhance economic stability for civil servants who form the backbone of the nation’s workforce.
