The federal government’s TVET application portal with an ambitious objective to educate 5 million young Nigerians in valuable technical and vocational skills is now open.
The application portal became accessible on May 31, 2025, and is open for young Nigerians eager to acquire practical skills in trades that can lead to employment and job creation.
The aim is to empower millions of young Nigerians with contemporary skills that enhance their employability or enable them to launch their own enterprises.
The chosen sectors were identified after extensive consultations and market analysis to pinpoint areas with job growth.
Graduates selected for the programme will receive starter kits, including tools for electricians, plumbing supplies, or carpentry sets.
Additionally, the programme includes access to soft loans and business assistance in collaboration with the Bank of Industry.

Mentorship will also be provided by experienced artisans, who can earn N30,000 monthly for each student they guide.
The training will take place at accredited facilities throughout the states, incorporating both private institutions and technical colleges.
Training will be offered via federal and state institutions, with certificates being recognized across the nation.
The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has proposed a minimum monthly stipend of N77,000 for participants, to attract more young individuals and assist them in maintaining their focus.
