The Federal Government has unveiled the official theme for Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary as “All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.” According to the government, this milestone is not just a commemoration of independence but a renewed commitment to unity, resilience, and collective progress.

In a statement issued by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen, described the theme as a rallying call for national solidarity. He emphasized that the message goes beyond celebration, urging citizens from every sector, public, private, and civil society, to work together in building a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.

The anniversary events will begin with a Juma’ah prayer on Friday, September 26, at 1 p.m., followed by an interdenominational service on Sunday, September 28, at 10 a.m. A world press conference is slated for Monday, September 30, at 10 a.m., where further engagements surrounding the anniversary will be unveiled. All official activities, the statement noted, will reflect the central message of unity and collaboration.

Reflecting on Nigeria’s journey since October 1, 1960, the statement acknowledged the nation’s resilience through decades of challenges and its achievements across economic, political, and social sectors. It stressed that Nigeria’s progress depends on sustained collective effort, urging every citizen to embrace patriotism, peace, and participation in shaping the country’s future.

With the 65th Independence Anniversary approaching, the Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that the theme “All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation” becomes more than a slogan, but a practical guide for building a Nigeria anchored on stability, prosperity, and shared responsibility.
