The federal government will conduct a thorough inquiry into the air attack that killed 10 persons in Gidan Bisa and Runtuwa villages in Silame Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
This is stated in a statement issued by Mr. Abubakar Bawa, Chief Secretary to the governor of Sokoto State and made accessible to journalists in Abuja on Saturday.
The statement revealed that Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, made the guarantee during a condolence visit to Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State in Sokoto.
Matawalle, the statement added, reaffirmed the federal government’s resolve to making sure that everyone in Nigeria is safe wherever they are and that justice will be served.
Although Matawalle acknowledged that terrorists were disturbing Nigerians’ tranquilly, he gave his word that the federal government will take firm action against them.
He praised Gov. Aliyu’s dedication to combating illegal activity in Sokoto State, including banditry.
The minister stated that Gov. Aliyu is the only governor who has voluntarily requested a military installation in his state, while pledging the military’s commitment to making Sokoto State safe.
“We would continue to provide all the necessary equipment and gadgets to Sokoto State.

“Mr President (Bola Tinubu) is worried by the unfortunate incident and he asked me to come and condole you over what happened,” he said.
The minister blamed a mistaken bombing on inaccurate information provided to the military.
He did however, state that security reports confirmed that the area where the incident occurred was dominated by the Lakurawa terrorists.
Responding, Gov. Aliyu urged the military to strengthen their information collecting and surveillance capabilities, so that they do not hit the incorrect targets.
He praised the military and other security services for their dedication to keeping the state safe and thanked Tinubu for his concern about the incident in the state.
The governor also expressed gratitude for his assistance in combating banditry in the state.
