The federal government has disclosed that National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members will soon start receiving their N77,000 allowance.
Director General of the scheme, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, made this known while speaking in Abuja on Tuesday, where he commissioned a staff bus donated by Capital Express Insurance Company.
Brig. Gen. Ahmed disclosed that arrangements for the increased allowance to be paid have been concluded.
He assured corps members that his priority was their security and welfare, hence in 2025, they will get all benefits that they deserve, noting that the bus donated to the staff is to ease transportation issues.
Brig. Gen. Ahmed noted that staff of the scheme and corps members serving in the scheme have always complained that it was difficult for them transporting themselves to and from the office.
The director general had in December 2024, announced that the government had agreed to double the monthly allowance for corps members from N33, 000 to N77, 000.

The increase is expected to reflect in the corps members’ allowance soon, pending the completion of necessary processes, especially the cash backing, he assured.
“I need to tell you that whenever the government increase salary, we in the NYSC approach the government for increment in corps members allowances and there was never a time the government did not respond to us.
“This time, the government has agreed to double the amount from N33, 000 to N77, 000. We are only waiting for cash back because other processes have been communicated to us,” he added.
