Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured Nigerians living overseas that the Tinubu administration is dedicated to enhancing engagement with the diaspora community to elevate Nigeria’s presence on the global stage.
During a meeting with Nigerians in the United States, held alongside the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, Shettima encouraged the diaspora to maintain their faith in the country, emphasizing that the ongoing reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda are already producing positive outcomes.
“Keep believing in Nigeria. We are on the right path. In due time, we will take our rightful place among the nations,” Shettima stated.
The vice president pointed out significant achievements of the administration, such as foreign reserves approaching $40 billion, increased revenue for state governments, unprecedented investments in infrastructure, and new initiatives aimed at youth and students, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
On behalf of Tinubu, Shettima praised Nigerians abroad for their resilience and contributions to national development, highlighting that their skills and experiences are crucial for Nigeria’s transformation.

Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, also commended recent reforms that have simplified access for Nigerians abroad to essential services like passports and non-resident Bank Verification Numbers (BVN).
She noted that the government is creating more investment opportunities and positioning Nigeria as a more attractive destination for investments from the diaspora.
Many attendees at the meeting expressed their willingness to invest in Nigeria across various sectors, including mining, healthcare, artificial intelligence, fintech, the creative industry, and agriculture.
Among the participants were Amazon AI engineer Adebimpe Daniels, healthcare expert Saratu Garba, and entrepreneur Idoni Matthew.
After his engagements in the U.S., Shettima arrived in Frankfurt, Germany, and pledged to enhance dialogue with Nigerians living abroad in the coming months.
