The federal government has announced that Thursday, May 1, 2025, will be a public holiday in celebration of the 2025 Workers Day.
This information was revealed in a statement by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani, in Abuja.
Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, emphasised the importance of peace for fostering industrialisation and promoting economic development.
Tunji-Ojo praised the dedication and sacrifices of workers, highlighting that their contributions are crucial to the nation’s prosperity and the esteem Nigeria holds internationally.

“There is honour in labour; the dedication and commitment we show in our work are essential for nation-building, so I encourage you to adopt a culture of innovation and productivity,” he stated.
The minister urged workers to elevate their standards in their professions to enhance governance and ensure that all Nigerians benefit fully from the nation’s resources.
He assured Nigerians that the Tinubu administration is fully committed to ensuring the security of lives and properties for all citizens and foreigners within the country.
Tunji-Ojo extended his wishes for a joyful Workers’ Day celebration to all workers in Nigeria.
