The Federal Government has announced that all students in Federal Technical Colleges (FTCs) across Nigeria will enjoy fully funded education, reaffirming its commitment to expanding access to technical and vocational learning under the TVET initiative.
In a statement released in Abuja, Folasade Boriowo, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Ministry of Education, confirmed that tuition and other essential costs will be covered entirely by the government. The package includes boarding, uniforms, textbooks, exercise books, prospectuses, and ID cards.
The initiative will also cater for additional needs such as stationery, extracurricular clubs, vocational activities, medical services, utilities, security, insurance, website/e-results, and ICT support like Skool Media.
Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, stressed that no principal or school administrator has the authority to demand unauthorized fees from parents or guardians. Circulars have been dispatched to all schools to reinforce this directive, and parents have been urged to report illegal payment requests directly to the Ministry through hotlines 0803 657 6733, 0803 637 3796, or by email at tse@education.gov.ng.
“This government is fully committed to breaking barriers in access to technical education. No Nigerian child should be denied education because of illegal fees. By investing in TVET today, we are building a stronger and self-reliant Nigeria,” Alausa stated.

The minister emphasized that the programme is in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which identifies Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a key driver of human capital development and national growth.
While tuition and approved expenses are fully covered, students are expected to provide their personal items while in residence at the Federal Technical Colleges.
