The Federal Government has commissioned a state-of-the-art Smart Divisional Police Station in Katampe, Mpape, Abuja. The new facility, delivered through the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF), was officially handed over to the Nigeria Police Force in a ceremony attended by top government and police officials.
Representing the Honourable Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Anuma Ogbonnaya Nlia, led the formal handover of the ultra-modern facility. The station features cutting-edge infrastructure including CCTV surveillance systems, a solar power grid, perimeter fencing, and water supply installations all geared toward ensuring 24/7 operability and effective policing.
In a statement posted on the X handle of the Nigeria Police Command and signed by Bolaji Oladimeji Kazeem, Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations, Senator Gaidam described the project as a landmark achievement under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He emphasized that the modern police station stands as a testament to the administration’s commitment to security reform and grassroots protection.
“For years, the Mpape community has yearned for a functional and modern police station,” Gaidam noted. “This facility is not just a building, it represents peace, trust, and a renewed bond between the police and the people. It is a symbol of progress and our unwavering dedication to securing every Nigerian.”

The Minister called on officers assigned to the new station to uphold integrity, professionalism, and community partnership, urging them to be models of justice and fairness in their engagements. He reminded them that effective policing depends not only on infrastructure but also on public trust and responsiveness.
He also charged Mpape residents to see the station as their own and to actively engage with the police to build a safer environment. “Security is a shared responsibility,” he stated. “This station belongs to you. Protect it, cooperate with its officers, and let’s create a model of effective community policing together.”
Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, Mr. Mohammed Sheidu, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his unwavering support in transforming the nation’s policing architecture. He revealed that similar smart police stations would be replicated across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones to deepen security coverage and promote citizen confidence in law enforcement.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Victor Olaiya, who received the facility on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, praised the architectural excellence of the structure, calling it a morale booster for officers. He stressed the need to maintain the edifice and the equipment within it as a symbol of national pride and law enforcement excellence.
Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, highlighted the successful execution of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed last year between his agency and the Nigeria Police Trust Fund. According to him, the partnership has led to a reliable and affordable electricity framework powering police facilities, setting a new benchmark in sustainable security infrastructure.
