The Federal Government has officially commissioned the Digital Industrial Park built by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in Kano State, reaffirming its commitment to empowering Nigerian youths through technology and innovation.
The commissioning ceremony, held in Kano, was led by the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, who described the facility as a national asset and a strategic hub for the development of ICT skills in the Northwest geopolitical zone. Originally completed in 2024, the park’s launch was delayed due to damage sustained during the August 2024 nationwide protests against bad governance.
Now rebuilt and fully operational, the park is designed to serve as a digital innovation hub, providing thousands of young Nigerians access to cutting-edge infrastructure and resources. Dr. Tijani called on the youth to take full advantage of the opportunities presented by the facility, stressing that the era of excuses for idleness was over in the face of abundant digital possibilities.
He emphasized that the Federal Government is committed to engaging over three million youths across the country in technical and digital training as part of a broader national strategy to build a digitally skilled workforce. The minister also reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s digital economy agenda, which focuses on expanding access to innovation-driven careers through partnerships with international ICT agencies.

Speaking at the event, NCC Executive Vice Chairman, Dr. Aminu Maida, explained that the park will act as a launchpad for digital entrepreneurship, supporting the transformation of innovative ideas into viable products and services. With broadband internet, stable power supply, and tech-driven workspaces, the facility is expected to catalyze digital innovation and economic inclusion, particularly in underserved regions.
Representing the Kano State Governor, Deputy Governor Comrade Abdulsalam Gwarzo praised the initiative and expressed the state’s readiness to align with federal efforts to promote digital literacy. He announced that the state government plans to train 3,000 youths in digital skills before 2027, while an additional 5,000 civil servants will undergo ICT training to drive innovation in public service delivery.
The NCC Digital Industrial Park in Kano is part of a nationwide initiative to bridge the digital divide, stimulate job creation, and transform Nigeria into a competitive digital economy. As the park opens its doors, it promises to become a cornerstone of youth empowerment, innovation, and sustainable development in Northern Nigeria.
