The Minister of State for Education, Suwaiba Ahmed, says the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, will take -off this year.
She made the announcement recently in Abuja, during the official handover of the certificate of occupancy of the university’s site by the Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Gov. Sani said the state university has greatly benefited from TETFund interventions, and asked for similar support for the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia.
The governor reiterated the state’s commitment to working closely with the Federal Ministry of Education to enhance educational development in Kaduna State.
He reaffirmed Kaduna State’s dedication to investing in education at all levels, advancing and fostering scientific, and technological innovation in Nigeria.
Gov. Sani emphasized the need for quality education, and faculty development, stating that while infrastructure is essential, having qualified lecturers is even more critical.

He expressed confidence in the Federal Ministry of Education’s capability to implement the university’s vision effectively, describing it as a transformative achievement for the people of Southern Kaduna and beyond.
The Minister of State for Education, Mrs. Suwaiba Ahmed, reaffirmed the federal government’s dedication to promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medical Sciences (STEMM) as a key pillar of the education sector renewal initiative.
Highlighting the significance of the new institution, the minister said “this university stands as a testament to our unwavering commitment to fostering innovation, and excellence in applied sciences.
“We are confident it will become a hub for groundbreaking research, and technological advancement in Nigeria.”
