Federal Polytechnic Orogun has announced a large-scale recruitment drive for both academic and non-academic roles. The announcement, made through an official press statement, reflects the institution’s commitment to expanding its workforce and fostering local economic growth as it positions itself as a center of excellence in Nigeria’s educational sector.

The polytechnic is seeking qualified and motivated individuals to fill a wide range of vacancies across various disciplines. The academic positions span departments such as Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Civil and Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics, Medical and Science Laboratory Technology, Library and Information Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Business Administration, Marketing, Public Administration, Mass Communication, Crime Management, Film & Television Studies, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Multimedia Technology, Agricultural Technology, and Music Technology.

Applicants for academic positions can apply as Assistant Lecturers, Lecturer III, Lecturer II, Lecturer I, Senior Lecturers, or Principal Lecturers, depending on qualifications, years of teaching and research experience, and publication record. Higher-level academic roles require evidence of multiple journal publications and documented research or industrial contributions.

Non-academic positions are also widely available across multiple cadres and specializations, including librarianship, administration, ICT, accounting, internal auditing, health services, architecture, surveying, civil service roles, engineering support, store management, and more. Applicants with qualifications ranging from secondary school certificates to postgraduate degrees are encouraged to apply, provided they meet the specific job requirements.

The resume must also include essential personal information, contact details, professional and academic qualifications, publication records where applicable, employment history, computer skills, and referees.

The deadline for application submission is six weeks from the date of publication, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews. The recruitment initiative, signed by Mrs. Christine Aluyi, fnim, anipr, Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council, is part of the institution’s broader strategy to become a leading polytechnic in Nigeria. It is expected to draw wide national interest and provide a major platform for skilled Nigerians to contribute meaningfully to the educational and economic development of Delta State and beyond.

Senator Ibrahim Lamido dumps APC, blames insecurity, economic hardship By Paul Joseph A serving senator representing Sokoto East Senatorial District, Senator Ibrahim Lamido, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress, citing worsening insecurity and economic hardship in his constituency. The lawmaker announced his decision on his official X platform, stating that his resignation takes immediate effect. He explained that the move followed what he described as the party’s inability to adequately protect lives and support livelihoods across Sokoto East. Lamido raised serious concerns over the surge in bandit attacks in the region, noting that several communities have been overrun, with villages destroyed, residents displaced, and local economies severely disrupted. He said repeated appeals for urgent government intervention had failed to produce meaningful results. The senator stressed that his decision was not driven by political ambition but by the need to stand with his constituents during a period of deep crisis. He added that consultations with community leaders and political associates shaped his final decision to exit the ruling party. While he did not immediately announce his next political destination, Lamido hinted that he would align with a platform that prioritises security, grassroots development, and the welfare of citizens. He also called on the Federal Government to intensify efforts against banditry, warning that continued inaction could worsen the humanitarian situation across northern Nigeria. The development adds to growing political shifts ahead of the 2027 general elections, as security concerns and economic pressures continue to influence alignments within Nigeria’s political landscape.
