FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has reaffirmed the commitment of the administration to creating an enabling environment for teaching and learning in all public schools.

The minister stressed that education remains one of the most powerful instruments for shaping the future of any society.

Mahmoud, who spoke at the official handover ceremony of 600 pieces of learning tablets donated by MTN Nigeria to 12 government secondary schools in the FCT, described the initiative as a timely and impactful investment in the future of Nigerian students.

The minister, who was represented by her Special Assistant on Technical Matters, Michael Bawa, emphasised that the donation came at a critical moment as the FCT Administration intensifies efforts to strengthen the educational system and equip students with essential digital tools to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.

Mahmoud expressed sincere appreciation to MTN Nigeria for its commitment to corporate social responsibility and their continued partnership with the government.

She observed that the provision of the tablets was more than technology distribution, noting that it was a direct investment in the potential of children, digital inclusion, and national development.

The minister also noted that MTN’s support aligns perfectly with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, which prioritizes access to quality education and digital empowerment nationwide.

Mahmoud urged the students to maximize the use of the devices as tools for discovery, creativity, and learning beyond the classroom.

She also encouraged teachers and school administrators to integrate digital resources into their teaching practices to enhance educational outcomes.

Chairman of the MTN board, Ernest Ndukwe affirmed that MTN donates learning tablets to government secondary schools to boost digital education across the country.

He emphasised that the distribution of the devices reflects the company’s shared commitment to education, innovation, and opportunity for every child, no matter where they live.

“MTN’s believes that everyone deserves the benefits of a modern connected life,” Ndukww said.

He added that in alignment with the national vision, MTN Nigeria has procured 4,600 digital learning tablets, which are being distributed to public secondary schools across the country.

Also speaking, the Mandate Secretary FCT Education Secretariat, Danlami Hayyo, who was represented by the Director, Department of Science and Technology, Kolawole Olabashola commended MTN Nigeria for their commitment to bridging the digital divide and promoting educational development in Nigeria.

The benefiting government secondary schools include Government Day Secondary School, Dutse-Alhaji, Government Secondary School, Mpape, Government Girls Secondary School, Dukpa, Government Secondary School, Gwagwalada, Government Science Secondary School, Tunga-maje and Government Secondary School, Pegi (Abuja @30).
