The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has approved major infrastructure contracts, including the construction of access roads in Durumi and Mabushi Districts, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance urban development and accessibility in Nigeria’s capital.
Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Mr. Richard Dauda, announced on Tuesday, following the 14th Executive Committee meeting chaired by FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Dauda said the newly approved projects include a 1.7-kilometre network of access roads, drainages, and culverts around the Apostolic Church in Durumi District.
Similarly, critical infrastructure developments were approved for Mabushi District, especially around Kez Udezue Street.
This project encompasses road construction, underground drainage systems, street lighting, and the installation of essential utilities like water and sewage collectors.

In a related development, an emergency contract was awarded for erosion control works along the major water pipeline running from the Lower Usuma Dam through Kubwa to Airport Road and Gwagwalada.
Dauda explained that the erosion had posed a significant threat to water supply in the area. The contract was awarded to CGC Nigeria Limited for immediate intervention.
Further approvals include the complete renovation and technical upgrades of the Department of State Services (DSS) headquarters, and the construction of a new block of magistrate court in Jabi District.
Chief of Staff to the FCT Minister, Mr. Chidi Amadi, noted that out of 13 memos presented during the meeting, nine were approved.
He emphasised that the projects are part of a broader strategy to fast-track infrastructural development and improve service delivery across the Federal Capital Territory.
