The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Miller G. Dantawaye, has ordered a restriction of movement across the Federal Capital Territory from 6:00am to 6:00pm on Saturday, February 21, 2026, ahead of the scheduled Area Council Elections.
The restriction, according to the command, will apply to all residents within the territory, except essential service providers and duly accredited election officials.
The FCT Police Command said the measure was aimed at ensuring a peaceful, safe and credible electoral process across the six Area Councils.

In a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the command urged residents to remain law-abiding and cooperate fully with security agencies deployed for the exercise.
The police also called on members of the public to report any suspicious persons or activities to the command’s emergency lines: 08032003913 and 08061581938.
The command assured residents of adequate security before, during and after the elections, warning that anyone found violating the restriction order would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
